late Thursday evening, almost early Friday morning.

tastes like: lavender caramel latte while I edited the Bakery page on the Society Fair site, Naked green juice while I drove to work on my favorite road - George Washington Parkway, duck carnitas/shrimp/Baja fish tacos while Monica & I discussed wedding invitation design.

feels like: wind in my hair, shameless car dancing, summer mugginess and imminent thunderstorms, and  excitement over new projects and new playlists. Friday is but minutes away!

smells like: vanilla bourbon perfume.

Breakfast of sad champions.

me: We're good for meeting next Friday.
Mark: What time? Can I get there in time for breakfast sandwiches?
me: Yes. Oh man, I haven't had one of those in ages.
Mark: Uh, that's silly. I think if our lives were switched I would eat that every day.
Mark: If our lives were switched then what would I be eating for breakfast?
Mark: Tears...and ketchup.

Welcome, mundane Saturday.

All I want to do is (besides get a little closer):
  • Organize my closet. Too. Many. Shoes.
  • Catch up on magazines that I haven't read since, oh, last November. They're mostly food magazines too, so you know I'm going to want to braise something and eat food that's no longer in season.
  • Clear the desktops of my laptop and iMac. Too. Many. Icons.
  • You know, cook something. I kind of want to bake cookies, but that would require going out. I don't really have any desire on going out. I barely want to be dressed.
  • Blog a little. Hey, I'm blogging now! Well alriiiiiight.
  • Catch up on TEDtalks, Bones, maybe a little Nerdist up in there.
  • Upload photos to my Flickr. I haven't in months.
  • Laundry.
  • Plan, design, and create my website. Yeah, right. Keep on truckin'.
Work makes work, people. See you at my next internet break.

Um, that right, Kemosabe.

me: When I first saw the [Lone Ranger] trailer, it took a second to realize that that was Johnny Depp.
Justin: Yeah. I mean, he's a good actor. Soon he'll be playing MLK.

Full disclosure: I'm procrastinating an art proposal.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm not a fancy photographer. I don't have elaborate equipment, nor do I know how to rock the luxurious light systems that one would expect of a proper photographer. I generally use what I have lying around in the near vicinity, which runs the gamut of duvet covers to the envelope in which my design degree was delivered. I prefer natural light. Strobe lighting both impresses and intimidates me. When I bought Otis, my current camera, I also purchased an extensive user's guide. I've yet to read it, though bring it with me everywhere. I feel guilty about this. I fight the constant inner battle between photographer's cockiness and “Damn, I suck.”

That is all.

“What? It's an espresso machine.”
“No, it's a terrifying creature from another world.”
“No, it looks like it would make a very interesting cup of coffee.”

DC PREP

Second round of logos I designed for PREP.
I'm partial to the one with the double chess piece.
There's a joke in there somewhere.

i heart you!

I don't think I've ever eaten heart, or if I have then they didn't tell me it was heart.
